SCENT MEMORY: A CUSTOMIZED FUNERARY AROMATHERAPY SERVICE:
The idea for Scent Memory Custom Funerary Aromatherapy Service came to be in Spring 2023 after my great friend Tracy was asking me if I had ever considered combining my spiritual and dying, death and grief work with funeral homes. I expressed that I would love to offer my services in conjunction with what they offer but I was not sure (yet at that time) what that could be. The idea of Scent Memory Custom Funerary Aromatherapy Service then appeared to me from the ether as a natural progression and convergence of my spiritual work, my dying, death and grief work and my work as a Custom Holistic Aromatherapist.
Funerary Aromatherapy is a term I thought of to describe the use of essential oils and aromatherapy by diffusion (either ambiently through passive diffusion or actively through other means such as a diffuser, etc) in funerary applications such as when someone is dying, memorial services and funerals, rituals, ceremony, etc. and beyond into the grieving process.
The scents of plants can help bring us everything from pauses in the grieving process to be able to literally take a breath, to using the power of scent to stir beloved memories of the ones who have passed from this place, to helping create a certain type of atmosphere, and even simply just to improve the smell of a space or place. It can be applied in a way that is either general or far more personalized. Scent can be individually, culturally and contextually interpreted very differently from one person to the next with many layers of meaning and the power of scent can also be an amazing tool for healing.
Scent Memory Custom Funerary Aromatherapy is a personalized service where I will work with you to provide you with a Funerary Aromatherapy Diffuser Blend that is right for you and share with you the tools and knowledge to incorporate it into your own or your loved one’s funerary rights.
The service consists of a phone or in-person consultation, the one-time rental of an ultrasonic water diffuser (if necessary) and a 2 ml quantity of the diffuser blend for your use with safe-usage instructions. The cost of the service is $120.00.
